The process starts with the sphere itself, either high grade acrylic or crystal. The next stage is the map. The map is is cut into several gores, then each gore is cut and hand applied separately to the sphere.

This process usually takes over 40 hours as it is done by hand and only trusted to those that have proven skills at various other production levels. Once the map has been applied to the sphere, several finishing coats are added to ensure the map does not fade or is easily damaged.
Models that have a wood floor stand take even longer in the production process as most manufacturers choose handcrafted wood vs importing mass produced stands. You can call these the premier line for any manufacturer as it is a departure from the standard mass production line. If you are looking for heirloom quality, this is it!
